My wife came home earlier than usual and caught her husband, who had pretended for three years to be disabled, in the pool with his young mistress. But instead of screaming or causing a scene, she did something neither of them could ever have expected.
For three years, I lived only for work.
After the accident, my husband assured me and everyone else that he would never be able to walk again. I never doubted his words for a second. Every morning I went to work and came home in the evening with groceries, medication, and everything else we needed. I paid for his treatments, appointments with the best doctors, expensive medical equipment, all the bills, and supported our entire household.
I thought that was exactly what a loving wife was supposed to do.
At first, it never even crossed my mind to complain. I truly felt sorry for my husband. I saw how much what happened had affected him, and I tried to support him in every possible way.
But as time went on, strange things began to happen.
Things around the house suddenly appeared in different places. Dirty dishes were left in the kitchen even though my husband claimed he had spent the entire day in the bedroom. Several times, neighbors told me that loud music could be heard coming from our garden during the day. Every time, he would simply smile and say:
“You’re imagining things.”
And I believed him.
One day, I suddenly felt sick at work. I was dizzy and had a fever. My boss insisted that I go home immediately.
When I entered the yard, I noticed the unusual silence. I put my bag down by the door and was about to call out for my husband when I heard loud laughter.
It was coming from the pool.
I carefully looked around the corner — and froze.
My husband, who had convinced me for three years that he couldn’t take a single step without help, was sitting completely relaxed on the edge of the pool. The next moment, he effortlessly jumped into the water and swam over to a young woman wearing a bright swimsuit. They both held wine glasses, laughed, and looked completely happy.
Then he put his arm around her and said with a grin:
“While my wife is working herself to the bone, we can be on vacation every day.”
The young woman laughed.
“And she still doesn’t suspect anything?”
“No. She’s far too gullible.”
At that moment, it felt as if everything inside me had frozen.
Surprisingly, I didn’t want to cry or start an argument. Instead, I decided to teach them a lesson they would never forget.
Quietly, I went to the storage shed next to the garage. There was a bucket of concentrated plant protection product there. The label said in large letters: “Causes severe skin irritation. Use only with protective gloves.”
I opened the lid, walked to the pool, and silently poured the entire contents into the water.
“What are you doing?!” my husband shouted.
Only a few seconds later, the young woman screamed:
“My whole body is itching terribly!”
My husband also began frantically scratching his neck and arms.
“Have you gone crazy?!”
I looked at them calmly.
“Don’t worry. If you were able to pretend to be disabled for three years, you’ll surely survive a few hours of uncomfortable skin irritation.”
Panicking, both of them climbed out of the pool and ran to the shower.

As for me, I calmly went into the house.
I took out the folder where I had long kept all the documents for the house, the car, and the bank accounts. Everything was registered in my name because, after all, I was the one who had earned the money.
Then I packed my husband’s belongings into large garbage bags, placed them outside the garden gate, and called a locksmith to replace all the locks.
When my husband came to the front door, he could no longer enter the house.
“Open the door! This is my house!”
“No,” I replied calmly. “It is the house that I paid for completely.”
He started threatening me with a lawsuit.
I opened the window and threw copies of the documents down to him.
“Read them carefully. Neither the house, nor the car, nor the accounts belong to you.”
He fell silent.
The mistress, wrapped in a towel, quietly asked:
“But you said everything here belonged to you…”
He had no answer.
She simply shook her head and walked away without looking back.
A few days later, I learned the whole truth. The doctors had indeed recommended a long rehabilitation period for my husband, but more than two years earlier he had already been able to walk independently again. It was simply more convenient for him to live at my expense while I believed every word he said.
I filed for divorce. I gave my lawyer photos, messages, and recordings from the security cameras, which had been automatically saved to the cloud.
This time, he could no longer make excuses.
